About
Natural Treasures combines natural elements including crystals and easy to care for plants to create one-of-a-kind displays and centerpieces. We are grateful to be part of an impressive community of local artisans and source many of our materials from other small businesses.
Whenever possible:
• Plants are sourced from local growers or are grown in-house;
• Crystals are ethically sourced by local suppliers and intuitively selected by us;
• Moss is procured from suppliers practicing sustainable harvest; and,
• Glass for the larger pieces is repurposed.
Natural Treasures is based on the unceded, unsurrendered territory of the Anishinabe Algonquin Nation, whose presence here reaches back to time immemorial. Their culture and presence have nurtured and continue to nurture this land. We are grateful to live and work in this beautiful territory, also known as Ottawa. A portion of each sale goes to Minwaashin Lodge Indigenous Women's Support Centre.
We were inspired to create our items following the second stay-at-home order in Ontario. We realized that so many people, including ourselves, were confined to their homes and that having natural elements, including plants and crystals, around our home made our days a little brighter. As a brand new mother and a recovering workaholic, I know the importance of easy-to-care-for plants, which is why we work with air plants, cacti, and succulents. I have always been fascinated by the geological properties of crystals and have recently begun exploring their metaphysical properties. Crystals have such a fascinating history and it is a pleasure to learn about them and to share that information with you.
When combined, crystals and plants create gorgeous displays and centerpieces that last much longer than flowers. My partner has been encouraging me to sell my creations for years but it wasn’t until the pandemic and being isolated at home that I realized how much joy these pieces bring me and that other folks may also benefit from having living décor inspired by the natural beauty of the earth. So we decided to launch Natural Treasures together and to see if we could spread some of that joy to others.
It is very important to us to respect people and the planet so whenever possible we source our materials from other local small businesses and strive to minimize waste in our production and packaging.
